Aluminium 2024 Wire is composed of 90.7-94.7% aluminium, with significant additions of 3.8-4.9% copper, 1.2-1.8% magnesium, and 0.3-0.9% manganese, along with trace amounts of other elements. This composition provides exceptional strength and fatigue resistance. The mechanical properties include a tensile strength of 470-520 MPa, yield strength of around 325-410 MPa, and elongation of 10-15%. Aluminium 2024 Wire offers excellent machinability and moderate corrosion resistance. It is widely used in aerospace and automotive applications where high strength and performance under stress are critical requirements.
